Brooke & Juan
We are getting married on May 2, 2026
Our Story
When we first met
Brooke and Juan’s story started long before they ever met. Six years earlier, a broken-down bus in Southeast Asia led Brooke to meet a girl from Mexico City. Later, a last-minute change of travel plans had Brooke driving across the country and stopping in that same city, where a dinner with that friend introduced her to another — who would eventually introduce her to Juan all within one week. In a city of over 20 million people, everything somehow lined up.
When Brooke and Juan finally met, they became part of the same friend group, traveling around Mexico together and getting to know each other naturally over time. Their relationship grew easily, full of laughter, cultural exchange, and plenty of adventures.
Our first date
Their first real date was spent on Juan’s motorcycle, weaving through the streets of Mexico City. They spent the entire day downtown, exploring the city and getting to know each other along the way.
From there, their relationship unfolded naturally. They learned each other’s worlds, their cultures, and how to communicate even when language didn’t always cooperate. One moment that still makes them laugh is when Brooke discovered Juan actually spoke perfect English after months of claiming he didn’t — overhearing him on the phone just as she thought she had finally mastered Spanish. Travel soon became central to their story as they explored new cities, tried foods they couldn’t pronounce, and learned that life — and home — are better when shared.
Marriage Proposal
San Miguel de Allende has always felt like a place from a love story, and it became the perfect setting for Brooke and Juan’s. Juan told Brooke they were taking a simple weekend trip to have dinner with a friend. While Brooke was getting ready, Juan slipped away to a rooftop restaurant to set everything up — and at the time, Brooke had no clue.
When they arrived, something felt different. Juan couldn’t stop smiling. After a few moments, he stepped away from the table and came back looking even more nervous.
Then, a drone appeared in the sky.
Brooke assumed some influencer nearby was filming — until the drone lowered a small box toward their table. Juan stood up, pulled out a pair of scissors, cut the string, and dropped to one knee.
Everything else blurred. Brooke barely remembers what he said and can’t even remember if it was English or Spanish — all she knew was her answer was an immediate yes. After dinner, a mariachi band arrived, and they went running and dancing through the town square, ending the night celebrating in a cantina. It was unexpected, emotional, and perfectly them — the beginning of their next chapter, full of adventure, laughter, and whatever comes next.
